Teaching News

Here is some of the latest news for would-be teachers and some info on resources:

Graduate Teacher Programme (GTP)
The new Graduate Teacher Programme application system is now live. This programme will be of particular interest with postgrads who need to earn while they’re qualifying as a teacher. From the Training and Development Agency for Schools website:

“The Graduate Teacher Programme (GTP) is a teacher training programme designed for graduates. On the GTP you can attain the same qualified teacher status (QTS) as awarded by a postgraduate certificate of education (PGCE), while training and working in a paid teaching role. This vocational programme is ideal if you want to change your career and become a teacher, but need to earn an income while you train.”

For the more common PGCE route into teaching, the GTTR course search for courses starting in 2011 looks to be live now (a day earlier than expected so might just be a test – don’t panic if it doesn’t work at first!)
