I’m running a one day workshop for PhDs on Friday 22nd May covering:
- Marketing Your PhD
- CVs and Applications
- Assessment Centres
– and there are some places still free. We don’t cover this kind of “nuts and bolts” careers info at the Pathways event, so if you’re thinking of applying for jobs soon and want to update your knowledge, this is the event for you.
The workshop has been set up as part of the GraDS programme for PhDs in the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences. However, as the fundamentals of CVs, applications and interviews are common across most disciplines, I’m happy to talk to PhDs from any Faculty.
EPS PhDs will have priority, but if there are any places left unfilled, historians, immunologists and nursing PhDs and more are all welcome – just be prepared to review other people’s CVs which are full of technology you don’t recognise. (Yes, you’ve got to bring your own CV along, so others can give you feedback. Getting feedback from others who are smart but not specialists in your field is one of the most useful things you can do to improve your CV.)
If you want to apply, just send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org (and check out their “Workshop Booking Etiquette” page if you haven’t been to an EPS GraDs workshop before).
