Marks and Clerk are offering short placements for science, engineering or maths students (undergrads or postgrads) who are interested in becoming a patent attorney. This is a rare opportunity, and ideal for postgrads who can’t spare more than a few days away from their research or study programmes.
The placement will be in the week commencing 3rd August 2009 and you must apply by 30th April (their website has the application form you’ll need to complete, no interviews required). It will be based in London or Cambridge, and there is a small payment to cover expenses (£200).
They are looking for students who want to start work on or before September 2010, so they will give preference to those in their penultimate year of study. I suspect these will be massively over-subscribed, so early application (and care over the form – which looks interesting) are recommended.
