For anyone who’s been frustrated by the queue to use the DVD player in the Careers Service to do some last minute prep for interviews, we’re pleased to tell you that you can now get all the videos from “Making An Impact At Interview“, streamed from the Careers Service website. It does require a university (or careers account) log-in (but if anyone’s reading this from another UK university, your own careers service is likely to have this DVD and may also offer the streaming service).
This is an excellent update to the last interviews DVD, this time offering shorter clips of real students being interviewed by real employers, offering the employers’ comments.
I was pleased to see that postgraduates are well represented – for the KPMG interviews, Juan is doing a PhD in Public Sector Accounting, Phillipa is doing an MA in French and European Studies, and Abheepa is doing an MSc in Economics. There are also interviews with Enterprise-Rent-A-Car (big graduate recruiters on campus for their management scheme – good if you fancy working towards running your own bit of the business, sooner rather than later), a telephone interview with an agency who work for some of the big names in recruitment, and a graphic design agency (OK, probably not so much interest from our PhDs there!)
So now, if you’re panicking at 3am about your interview the following day, you can get in some last minute revision without breaking down the doors of the Careers Service (though getting some sleep would probably do you more good).
