I’ve been running workshops for all the 3rd year PhDs in Life Sciences and Medical and Human Sciences this week, so just a short post on vacancies mainly of interest to them.
Public Health Scientist – Medical Research Council looking at prevention of childhood obesity. Needs a PhD in epidemiology, medical sociology or social science with an emphasis on nutrition and physical activity. But be quick – the deadline is 15th January.
Astra Zeneca, Shanghai – various posts have recently been advertised, including translational science and principal scientist positions, for which an MD or PhD in life science is sought, plus statistical scientists where you’ll need a PhD in something statistical (not necessarily life science here). Look at their China vacancy site for more information.
Account Executive – Healthcare Communications Agency in London or Manchester, researching information on therapy areas and maintaining good client relationships. Experience in HIV or endocrinology and a life science degree or PhD.
Clinical Scientists – NHS. The annual recruitment round for a range of clinical scientist roles is under way. Closing date is 15th Feb, but you’ll need to have visited a relevant NHS lab beforehand to make a good application so need to get going! On the current MSc in Clinical Biochemistry run by this university at Hope Hospital, which is part of the training for these roles, about a third of the trainees already have PhDs.
